Ms. Blizard began her career a lab technician and manager in Connecticut, then established Blizard Professional Cleaning, which she ran from 1983 to 1996, to be able to spend more time with her newborn son. She also served as assistant director of the University of Hartford Entrepreneurial Center, where she taught Start-Your-Own Business classes and helped scores of participants run successful companies of their own. Having learned the value of understanding and accommodating her employees needs, she provided an example of how to operate a profitable business while treating employees well and with respect.
Ms. Blizard holds a BA from the University of Colorado, and she has been a board member of the Connecticut Association of Realtors since 2010. She was also chair of the Norwich Redevelopment Agency and a member of the board of directors for the Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors and the Norwich Library. In addition to her work in the community, she founded the People Interrupted Project in honor of her late husband, Robert E. Davidson, a renowned advocate for people living with mental illness.
