Dr. Moon has served as a professor with the Pusan National University College of Natural Sciences since 2012, also serving as dean since 2018.

With more than 20 years of professional experience, Dr. Moon has served as a professor with the Pusan National University College of Natural Sciences since 2012, also serving as dean since 2018, having previously held the position from 2005 to 2007. Prior to obtaining these roles, he worked with the school as an associate professor from 2007 to 2012, and as an assistant professor from 2003 to 2007. In addition to his primary roles, Dr. Moon was a committee member for the faculty council, and he has been a visiting scholar with the University of California, Berkeley, from 2013 to 2014, where he was also a postdoctoral fellow with the department of plant and microbial biology from 1999 to 2003. Dr. Moon also held a postdoctoral fellowship with the POSTECH department of life science from 1997 to 1999.
A respected voice in the scientific community, Dr. Moon has delivered more than 100 presentations at national and international conferences. Most recently, he attended The 58th Annual Meeting and International Symposium of Korean Society of Life Science: New Era of Biotechnology to 4th Industrial Revolution, where he delivered a presentation entitled "AtNAP, an Arabidopsis Transcription Factor, Negatively Regulates Salt Stress Response by Repressing ABA-dependent Stress Responsive Genes."
Dr. Moon has authored more than 50 published articles, and he holds a patent, "Stress-tolerant plants transformed by AP2 (Apetala2) domain genes," registered in 2010. Dr. Moon's most recent published works include "AtC3H17, a non-tandem CCCH zinc finger protein, functions as a nuclear transcriptional activator and has pleiotropic effects on vegetative development, flowering and seed development in Arabidopsis" in Plant and Cell Physiology, "Enhanced resistance of PsbS-deficient rice (Oryza sativa L.) to fungal and bacterial pathogens" in the Journal of Plant Biology, and "Arabidopsis AtNAP functions as a negative regulator via repression of AREB1 in salt stress response" in Planta.
As an expert in his field, Dr. Moon is affiliated with numerous professional organizations. He is a member of the American Society of Plant Biologists, the Botanical Society of Korea, the Korean Society of Photoscience, the Korean Society for Molecular and Cellular Biology, the Korean Society for Plant Biotechnology, and the Korean Society of Life Sciences. He previously served as a member of the editorial board with the Korean Society of Life Science for two years, in addition to being recognized as a member of the moderation committee of the 5th International Junior Science Olympiad in 2008. In recognition of his contributions, Dr. Moon has received Excellent Poster Awards from the Korean Society of Photoscience, the Botanical Society of Korea, and the Korean Society of Life Science.
