WOODBRIDGE, CT, June 07, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Richard Lytle with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Lytle celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A renowned painter, Mr. Lytle taught for many years and served as the acting dean at the Yale University School of Art. Hired as an instructor in 1960, he remained in his role for three years before accepting a position as the dean at Silvermine College of Art. In 1966, he returned to Yale where he spent the remainder of his career, ultimately retiring in 2002. Included in the famous "Sixteen Americans" exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in 1959, Mr. Lytle has since become a well-known master of color with works that have included both watercolor and charcoal. Particularly fond of painting botanical landscapes, he spent the first part of his career as an assistant to Josef Albers, a German-born American artist and educator, before entering academia. Mr. Lytle was also selected to travel to the Ukraine in 1990 where he spent two weeks curating art to bring back to the United States.

Mr. Lytle's exhibitions were recently on display in a one-man show in 2018 at the Giampietro Gallery in New Haven, CT. On display at Fairfield University just prior to the Giampietro Gallery, he has also held numerous one-man shows at other location, and he has been exhibited in group shows at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum Art, the World's Fair in Seattle, WA, the Pennsylvania Academy of Art, and the Bruce Museum. In addition, he has works in permanent collections at the Yale Art Gallery, the Museum of Modern Art, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the National Museum Art. Mr. Lytle's proudest achievement was being included at the Festival of the Arts on the Green in New Haven, which was chosen as number one by Judge Dorothy Miller, a curator at the MoMA, which purchased the painting. He was also excited when two of his abstract paintings were purchased by Governor Rockefeller, one of which was for display in the governor's mansion and the other for his home, which serves as the center of his collection.

A consultant for several years with the Rockefeller Fund in New York, NY during the 1960s, Mr. Lytle has also served as the director of the Yale Summer School in 1976 and 1977. Furthermore, he was an artist-in-residence at Dartmouth College in 1986. He served on the Region 5 Board of Education in Woodbridge, CT for 16 years and was chair for 8 years, and was a member of the board of finance for the City of Oxford, CT from 1964 to 1966.

Graduating number one in his class at Cooper Union in New York City in 1955, Mr. Lytle went on to pursue both a BFA in 1957 and an MFA in 1960 at Yale University. A Fulbright fellow from 1958 to 1959, he was honored by Cooper Union in 1985 with a St. Gauden's Award. He has been showcased in Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the East. Married to Berit Ore Lytle since 1959, Mr. Lytle has three children and four grandchildren.
