The principal and owner of Myers Consulting Services, Dr. Myers is a chemist and consultant with more than 40 years of relevant industry experience. With expertise in such areas as inorganic chemistry, polymers, ceramics, composites, and nanotechnology, he provides technical expertise and real-world problem solving to generate cost-effective solutions for a variety of chemistry and materials science-related industries. Dr. Myers has consulted for several Forbes Global 2000 companies since 1994, and he has served as a researcher for Cabot Microelectronics Corporation, a research and development chemist for Thermagon Inc., a senior inorganic chemist for Sermatech International Inc., and he spent the earlier part of his career in various roles within the corporate research divisions of B.F. Goodrich Company from 1977 to 1994. Dr. Myers also taught as a chemistry lecturer at John Carroll University for two years.
Dr. Myers was a visiting scholar at the Ohio Academy of Science during the early 1990s, and he has served as a volunteer teacher at a local high school, developing and teaching a Saturday morning class called Science in Action and he taught science for the Strongsville Association for Gifted and Talented Students. The inventor and co-inventor of 14 patents, including electrically conducting polymers, flame retardants, and preceramic polymers, Dr. Myers has also contributed more than 20 articles to professional journals, participated at various conferences, and presented science demonstrations at a number of libraries and schools. Additionally, he was a judge for the internationally competitive R&D 100 Awards.
An elected fellow of the American Institute of Chemists, Dr. Myers is a member of the ASM International, the American Chemical Society, the American Ceramic Society, Sigma Xi, the Materials Research Society and the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering. He holds a BA in Chemistry from Gettysburg College and a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from Purdue University. Prior to completing his doctorate, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972.
The recipient of a 2005 Gettysburg College Distinguished Alumni Award for his achievements, one of Dr. Myers's inventions was named among the Top 10 Best New Products of 1998 by the Aerospace Engineering SAE publication. Listed in nearly 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the Midwest, he also received a Decorated Commendation for his military service. In the near future, Dr. Myers hopes to begin writing a science activities book. Married since 1972 to Ewha Chun, he has two children (Jennifer and Michele) and two grandchildren (Henry and Mila).
