Dr. Mary Beth Robinson Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    REDONDO BEACH, CA, June 14, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Mary Beth Robinson with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Robinson celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With 40 years of experience, Dr. Robinson is currently retired from active career aspirations, having most recently worked as the chair of the Department of Foreign Language, German teacher, English as Second Language teacher, American Literature teacher, and instructional coach for beginning teachers for the Centinela Valley Union High School District from 1987 to 2006. Prior to these appointments, she was a reading specialist for the East Side Union High School District from 1986 to 1987, field education coordinator and education teacher for Stanford University from 1982 to 1986, and a federal program evaluator for the School District of Philadelphia from 1980 to 1981. Previously, she was a lecturer and curriculum evaluator for California State Polytechnic University from 1978 to 1980, and as a teaching evaluator for the College of Veterinary Medicine at the Ohio State University from 1975 to 1978. Dr. Robinson began her career at the Berkeley Unified School District as a secondary teacher from 1966 to 1975.

Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Robinson pursued an education at UCLA, earning a Bachelor of Arts in German and economics in 1965. In 1966, she was certified in general secondary teaching by the University of California, Berkeley. She continued her academic efforts with a Master of Arts in education in 1974 at Stanford University. She concluded her studies in 1978 at the Ohio State University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in education. Dr. Robinson is certified as a school administrator by California State University, Long Beach, in 1988.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Robinson has participated in numerous endeavors in her professional circles. She held the role of institutional program evaluator for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and she contributed to the County of Los Angeles Commission on Human Relations as a Sacramento advocate. Dr. Robinson has been a volunteer mentor to minority applicants for First Generation Scholarships for College Students.

In addition to her primary trade, Dr. Robinson remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She maintained involvement with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the American Association of University Women, the Los Angeles World Affairs Council, and EMILY's List. Likewise, Dr. Robinson was a member of the Stanford Club of West Los Angeles, Phi Delta Kappa International, and the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO; she nominated Shirley Chisholm, the first African-American women elected to the U.S. Congress at an AFT convention for entering the Presidential race.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Robinson has accrued several accolades and honors throughout her career. Most recently, she was featured in the 2018 edition of Marquis Magazine. Dr. Robinson was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.

Attributing her success to her willingness to support and encourage all of her students, Dr. Robinson was inspired to enter her industry by her wonderful teachers, the achievements of her family, and the plight of Linda Brown, the student at the center of the Supreme Court case Brown v. Board of Education. The highlight of her career was her first assignment with Berkeley Unified School District, the first school district in a city of a hundred thousand people or more in California to voluntarily desegregate. Looking towards the future, Dr. Robinson continues her activities with EMILY's List, supporting women who plan to run or are currently running for U.S. Senate.
