With 40 years of practiced industry experience, Dr. Forman retired from his role as principal in the Lawrence Public Schools. He now works as a lecturer of educational leadership and an education consultant for Stony Brook University. Earlier in his career, he worked in the New York City School District as a teacher, coordinator, director of reimbursable programs, director of curriculum and instruction, and executive assistant superintendent. Over those years, he has also served as principal of Roosevelt Island School, as well as principal of the Number Two School of the Lawrence Public Schools.
An expert in his field, Dr. Forman holds a Bachelor of Arts from Queens College, a Master of Arts from Brooklyn College, and PhD from New York University. As a leading voice in the industry, he is affiliated with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the New York Academy for Public Education, and the Metropolitan Council of Educational Administration Programs.
Throughout his career, Dr. Forman has lent his expertise to such articles as "The Opt-Out Movement and State Assessment Results: A Tale of Two Counties" and "Is Effective the New Ineffective? A Crisis in the New York State Teacher Evaluation System," which were both featured in the Long Island Journal for Leadership and Instruction, as well as "Poverty, Attendance, and Teacher Evaluations: Which Matters Most in Determining Urban High School Graduation Rates?" Additionally, he has coauthored a number of works through Pearson Custom Publishing, including "Preparing for Educational Leadership" and "Diving Into Data."
For his outstanding work, Dr. Forman has been honored many times, earning the honor of New York State Gap Closing Principal in 2005 and "Friend of Education" by Stony Brook University in 2016. Looking forward, Dr. Forman intends to continue parlaying his knowledge of the field to others at Stony Brook University.
