Dr. Claybrooks is a tenured human resources professional who has been a human resources specialist at the Department of Defense for the past 10 years. With extensive expertise in all aspects of human resources, including recruitment staffing and placement, organizational development, and employment retention strategies for individuals with intellectual disabilities, Dr. Claybrooks initially entered the field while serving in the U.S. Army. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she was involved with the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, and once commissioned, she became an HR officer within the military.
Prior to her years with the DOD, Dr. Claybrooks was a policy service specialist and total loss claims representative with the United Services Automobile Association from 1993 to 2008. She also served as an AG Officer in the U.S. Army from 2000-2005 and a Logistics Specialist with the U.S. Army Reserves from 1988-2000.
Involved with Best Buddies International, a non-profit 501(c) organization that consists of volunteers to create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Dr. Claybrooks is also a longstanding member of Delta Mu Delta, Blacks in Government.
Dr. Claybrooks earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice at the University of Texas in San Antonio in 1999, a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management at Webster University in 2009, and a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership and Development at the University of Phoenix in 2018. She is a certified professional of human resources.
