With more than 50 years of industry experience, Mr. Stuman is currently retired, having most recently served as a manager for U.S. pharmacy operations with Baxter from 1997 to 2014. Prior to this appointment, he was the director of pharmacy at the Shelby Medical Center from 1962 to 1982. Previously, Mr. Stuman trained to become a commercial pilot, garnering his license, but losing his 20/20 vision made him reconsider his career path, later working as an engineering technician on the Saturn 5.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Stuman pursued an education at Samford University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1969. Following this accomplishment, he was licensed as a pharmacist in Alabama, Louisiana, Georgia, and Tennessee. Mr. Stuman has also found success with his written works, having contributed articles to esteemed journals.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Stuman has contributed to numerous endeavors in his community. Designated as an Eagle Scout by the Boys Scouts of America, he is a regular volunteer for his local and regional churches. Likewise, Mr. Stuman is the former president of the Alabama Society of Health System Pharmacists.
Attributing his success to his perseverance and never giving up, Mr. Stuman has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his career. The highlight of his career has been the personal connections he has made with others in his field, as well as many astronauts during his time on the Saturn 5 project, including Neil Armstrong. Additionally, Mr. Stuman received the Senior Award for Pharmacology at Samford University.
