Living her dream as an art gallery owner in Carmel, CA, Ms. Titus is a talented artist who specializes in large abstract contemporary paintings. Inside the Titus Contemporary Gallery, you'll not only find many of her paintings, which consist of mixed media and includes a variety of shapes, colors and textures, you'll also find paintings and sculptures by other local artists. Open seven days a week, the Titus Gallery also participates in home shows, teaches techniques in workshops at every level from beginner to professional, and hosts private classes as well as couples' classes.

Throughout her career, she has been the recipient of numerous awards, including a People's Choice Award, granted by the Longboat Key Art Association in Sarasota, FL. She has appeared on several television shows as well, including "Focus on the Stars" in San Jose, CA, and in Florida, has traveled to Saudi Arabia to teach painting to a princess where she also had the opportunity to teach two classes a day for a week for 37 students and has since traveled the world for inspiration to places like Africa, Rome, Venice, Florence, Scotland and Amsterdam.

Born in Florida, Ms. Titus graduated from Paxon High School in Jacksonville, FL, in 1968. Never receiving any formal training in art, she first worked as a display supervisor for J.C. Penny in Sarasota. Several years later, she had become a watercolor instructor of the Longboat Key Art Center. By 1982, Ms. Titus opened her first art gallery as owner and artist, the Friends of Arts Gallery, in Carmel. She later taught as a workshop instructor at the Hilton Leech-Friends of Arts in Sarasota before forming Mary Titus Gallery I and II in Carmel and several other galleries over a 22-year period. She established the Titus Contemporary Gallery in 2010.

During her tenure in the art world, Ms. Titus served as a judge for the Florida County Schools in Sarasota during the 1970s and again for the "Judge for Judges and Lawyers" show in 2009. She was also a guest artist on PBS TV and has mentored many artists. Her works have included exhibitions at the Alkozam Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Zantman Art Galleries in Carmel, the BGH Gallery in Santa Monica, CA, The Phillips Gallery in San Jose and Carmel and the Coda Galleries in Palm Desert and Park City, CA. Furthermore, she has been a featured artist in various magazines.

A longtime member of the Artist Equity Association, Ms. Titus was recently nominated for Best Gallery of Excellence in 2017. She also received a Best in Show by the Mission Ranch in 1991, a First Place Award by the Longboat Key Art Center in 1980, a First Place Award and Best in Show by the Mira Mar Arts Festival in 1977 and 1979, and a Second Place Award by the Venice Art League in 1977.
