With more than 50 years of professional experience, Ms. de Gogorza is a renowned sculptor and printmaker. In addition to creating her own works, she has been a sculpture instructor with the Carving Studio in West Rutland, VT, since 1987, and an instructor with the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson since 1984. In addition, she has served as a sculpture instructor for the Arts Workshop in Akaroa, New Zealand, since 1999. From 1996 to 2006, she worked as a sculptor instructor with Johnson State College, and she was a drawing instructor with the University of Vermont in 1980 and 1981. Earlier in her career from 1966 to 1971, she worked as an assistant professor of art at Bard College.
Ms. de Gogorza was born into art to well-known artist and Smith College educator Maitland de Gogorza and her mother, Julia Brodt, who taught at the Museum School and routinely would enroll her and her sisters in the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY. Ms. de Gogorza began her own education in the field at Smith College, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1958, later earning a Master of Arts at Goddard College in 1975. She has lived in France, Portugal and New York City before ultimately moving to northern Vermont in 1971.
