Bushnell, where he practices law with a focus on employment litigation, mediation and arbitration. Throughout his impressive career, he has tried numerous cases on behalf of wronged employees, including a landmark sexual harassment case against the Chief of Police of San Francisco and multiple cases in the entertainment industry. Mr. Bushnell began his career as an attorney for the Department of Water Resources for the State of California from 1969 to 1971.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Bushnell pursued an education at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1966. He concluded his education in 1969 at Georgetown University, graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Following these accomplishments, he was admitted to practice by the State Bar of California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Eastern District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Supreme Court of the United States, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Mr. Bushnell is board certified in Civil Trial Law and Civil Pretrial Practice Law by the National Board of Trial Attorneys.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Bushnell has participated in numerous endeavors in his professional circles. He has held the position of lecturer for labor and employment seminars at Practicing Law Institute, the San Francisco Bar Association, and the California Employment Lawyers Association. He served on the Board of Directors for California Lawyers for the Arts from 1978 to 1998, during which time he also served as secretary from 1985 to 1987, and on the Board of Directors of Bread & Roses, Inc. of Mill Valley, California, from 1979 to 1988, for which he was Chairman of the Board from 1981 to 1984. Mr. Bushnell found success with his written works as well, having authored many articles for esteemed publications in his industry.
In addition to his primary trade, Mr. Bushnell remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has been a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, the San Francisco Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers Association, and the California Employment Lawyers Association. He has been further associated with the San Francisco Superior Court as an arbitrator of civil matters and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California as an early neutral evaluator. He was also active with the Labor & Employment Section for the American Association of Justice, the Labor & Employment and International Law Sections of the American Bar Association, and is currently active with the Labor & Employment and Litigation Sections of the State Bar of California. He is also a member of the American Society of International Law, Human Rights Subcommittee. Mr. Bushnell has maintained involvement with the Bar Association of San Francisco as an arbitrator for the Fee Dispute Committee and panelist for the Early Settlement Program in the Labor and Employment Law Section.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Bushnell has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his career. He was recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer in Law and Politics by San Francisco Magazine from 2006 to 2016 as well as among Super Lawyers from 2006 to 2018.
