Professor emeritus in the department of physics at the University of Florida since 2015, Dr. Sabin still remains active in the field and also maintains his office on campus. Teaching at the university for 44 years beginning in 1971, he also served in several administrative roles during his tenure, including as director of information technology in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for 10 years, associate dean for two years, and as interim chairman in the department of physics in 2002. Furthermore, Dr. Sabin spent many years as an adjunct professor of physics, guest professor, Nordita professor and Fulbright professor at the University of Southern Denmark, as well as a visiting scientist with various institutions and organizations.
A longtime member of the Danish Physical Society, the Danish Chemical Society, the Danish Spectroscopy Society, the Bohemian Physical Society and several fraternities, Dr. Sabin is a lifetime member of the American Chemical Society and an elected fellow of the American Physical Society and the American Institute of Chemists. Throughout his career, he has attended numerous workshops and conferences across the United States, as well as in Belgium, Israel, Bulgaria and Denmark, has organized various conferences and has served on several organizing committees since 1970.
Dr. Sabin is the author of more than 260 scholarly articles in addition to professional and technical papers in his area of expertise and is the author of two books, "The Return Post of the Danish Postal Service" and "Adventures in Civilization," both published in 2007. He has served on numerous editorial boards as an assistant editor, associate editor and editor for nearly two dozen peer-reviewed journals over the past four decades, including as editor of "Advances in Quantum Chemistry" since 1985 and as a member of the editorial board of "Croatia Chemica Acta" since 2000.
Dr. Sabin holds a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry from Williams College and a Doctor of Philosophy in chemistry from the University of New Hampshire. He has been cited in approximately 35 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the South and Southwest. Born in Springfield, MA, Dr. Sabin has been married to Birgit Horn since 1987 with several children.
