An award-winning psychotherapist and social worker, Dr. Mohl demonstrates an expertise treating mental health disorders and conditions by working one-on-one with patients regarding their moods, feelings, thoughts and behaviors. Since 2004, he has been in private practice in Dobbs Ferry, NY; however, his experience dates back to 1960 when he began his career as a case worker at the Brooklyn Aftercare Clinic where he remained for a year before joining the Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry, NY in the same role. Dr. Mohl subsequently served the Jewish Board of Family and Child Guidance Services for four years. In the 1970's, he was the director of residential social services for the Queen's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Children. He remained in this role for three years before taking on an opportunity as a consultant of family services for the Tip Neighborhood House in the Bronx, NY. As he established himself as a leader in his field, Dr. Mohl held other prominent roles, such as school social worker for the Committee on Special Education for District 28 in New York City and school social worker for Project Liberty. He is also noted for his work conducting workshops on incestuous families and child sexual abuse in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and consulting for Parent Anonymous in the South Bronx, NY. An impactful project that Dr. Mohl led connected students from Fordham University with at-risk youth in the community in 1981. In partnership with the local police, he was able to identify individuals who would benefit from the program. They offered community based social services, counseling and even helped students get into college.
Dr. Mohl entered his field knowing that he always wanted to help people. While pursuing an education in sociology, he initially planned to work in the probation and parole sector; however, an opportunity with a veteran army hospital led him on the path to social work. After serving in the military, Dr. Mohl returned to his studies to see his career goals through. He earned a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts and a Master of Social Sciences from New York University in 1954, 1956, and 1960, respectively. Years later, he achieved a Doctor of Philosophy from Columbia Pacific University in 1991. To remain at the top of his field, Dr. Mohl became a member of prominent industry organizations. Today, he is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the New York Academy of Sciences, the International Psychohistorical Association, the American Group Psychotherapy Association, the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, the New York State Society of Clinical Social Work Psychotherapists, the American Ortho Psychiatrists Association, and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
