KUMASI, GHANA, July 16, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Ebenezer A. Jackson has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
The last of six children who were all formally educated and went on to have successful careers, Dr. Jackson has always understood the importance of continuous learning. Since 1967, he has dedicated his life and career to advancing the lives of countless people in his native Ghana through education and innovative technology. The recipient of a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in electrical engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Jackson also received a diploma in management from Arthur D Little in 1971, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy in automatic control from the University of Pennsylvania three years later.
As a consultant, Dr. Jackson worked tirelessly to introduce the modular course system in Ghana during his time at KNUST, which was later adopted by the majority of institutions of higher learning in the country. He was also influential in the widespread usage of energy-efficient bulbs in Ghana, the result of his time spent on sabbatical leave with the Volta River Authority, Ghana's largest power-generating company. By training numerous high-ranking engineers throughout the country, Dr. Jackson has contributed greatly to the public and private sectors, and provided a way for younger generations to engage in sustainable practices.
During his tenure as dean of the College of Engineering at KNUST, Dr. Jackson was integral in establishing the computer, petroleum, aerospace and telecommunications engineering programs at the college. He also raised funds to help erect buildings on the campus, which helped generate additional income and bring a renewed sense of pride to the school and its alumni. In 2009, along with his wife and fellow educator Mrs. Theodosia Jackson, he established the Jackson Educational Complex (JEC). Derived from the Jackson College of Education, the first and only private institution providing distance learning services in Ghana, JEC offers a three-year program in basic education, and has conferred degrees upon more than 10,000 students as of 2018. In 2017, Dr. and Mrs. Jackson created the Jackson and DEEN Foundations to provide scholarships to disabled and brilliant students in the Jackson College of Education and other institutions.
Dr. Jackson's work in his field has been recognized throughout Ghana and internationally as well, namely with the Business Initiative Directions Award and the Europe Business Assembly Award in 2015. The Jackson Educational Complex also received the African Quality Award in 2016 and 2017 and earned the Micjoy Award in 2014 as Ghana's most influential private college of education. In addition the coming years, while he hopes to be completely retired from his current role, Dr. Jackson looks forward to witnessing his successors efficiently assume control of the institution.
