Prior to obtaining his current roles, he was a consultant and research advisor with the World Bank Institute from 2012 to 2014, and a Senior Research Fellow with Griffith University from 2010 to 2011, having been a Research Fellow since 2007. Earlier in his career, Dr. Pelizzo was an assistant professor at Singapore Management University from 2004 to 2007, an instructor at Johns Hopkins University in 2003, and a consultant with the World Bank Institute in 2002.
Dr. Pelizzo began his career as a student at the University of Bologna, obtaining an undergraduate degree, cum laude, in 1995. He then enrolled in the Johns Hopkins-Bologna Center for a graduate diploma in international affairs from 1996 to 1997, later earning a Doctor of Philosophy in political science at Johns Hopkins University in 2004.
A respected voice in his field, Dr. Pelizzo has written and edited numerous works, including seven monographs, more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, and his work has been translated into 11 languages. He has spoken in 25 countries, edited three volumes, and he has advised legislatures in developing countries in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific Region. For his contributions, Dr. Pelizzo received a Medal for Contribution to the Development of Science from the Kazakhstan Ministry of Education and Science.
