Prior to this appointment, he held the positions of technology and innovation advisor for Synchordia Kai Tin Afthonia Pty Ltd. from 2010 to 2011, as well as founder, chief technical officer, and on the board of directors for Azurn International Limited from 2004 to 2010. Dr. Kumble formerly served as senior vice president for Azurn Networks Inc. from 2003 to 2004, on the board of directors for Convergence Group from 2002 to 2003, chief experience officer for the Commonwealth Bank of Australia from 2000 to 2002, and director of iNTERNET from 1998 to 2000.
Previously, Dr. Kumble held multiple roles for Telstra Research Laboratories, such as principal engineer from 1984 to 1998, satellite communication research lead from 1984 to 1986, on the Corporate Network Strategy group from 1986 to 1996, and corporate executive from 1996 to 1998. He began his career as a member secretary for the National Radar Council Working Group from 1976 to 1982 and as a joint director for SAMEER from 1982 to 1984. Additionally, Dr. Kumble was the head of R&D and Innovation for the Caason Group, R&D advisor for Carbon IQ, and a board advisor for Leben Care Technologies.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Kumble pursued an education at Silver Jubilee Higher Secondary School, earning a Higher Secondary Certificate in 1966. He followed this accomplishment with a Bachelor of Engineering in electronics and communication engineering in 1971 at the University of Madras. He continued his academic efforts at the Indian Institute of Technology, receiving a Master of Technology in electrical engineering in 1973 and a Doctor of Philosophy in electrical engineering in 1977.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Kumble has participated in numerous endeavors in his professional circles. He contributed to the board of directors of Global Knowledge Alliance, Sierra Bio Life Pty Ltd., NextOmics, and Glueck Private Limited. He also held the roles of research grant reviewer for the Australian Research Council, grant reviewer for the Cooperative Research Centres, organizer for Centre of Excellence in Biomics in plant biotechnology for Shoolini University, and both visiting professor and advisor to engineering education for Jagran Lakecity University. Furthermore, Dr. Kumble found success with as an industry expert panelist for the Commercialization Program with the Department of Industry for the Government of Australia in 2014.
In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Kumble remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He maintained involvement as chair of the Victorian Section of the IEEE, the Australasian Group of IEEE TENCON, and the Communications Society Chapter of the Victorian Section of the IEEE. A senior member of the IEEE, he was a member of the Standardization Committee on 3D Manufacturing for Medical Applications for the IEEE, the Industry Advisory Board for RMIT University, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and the Telecommunications Society of Australia. Dr. Kumble has also been active with philanthropic activities, contributing to underprivileged children, education scholarships, and animal welfare in Australia, India, Cambodia, and South America.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Kumble has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. He has been presented with the Millennium Medal for Excellent Contributions from the IEEE. Likewise, he received a Letter of Appreciation for the promotion of science and engineering in the State of Victoria by the Premier of Victoria.
