INDIAN LAND, SC, July 25, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present J. Nicholas Suhr, Esq., with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Suhr celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Suhr, a retired tenured attorney who upheld his general practice law firm in Little Egg Harbor, NJ for 15 years, also formerly owned his own private practice in New York, NY between 2000 and 2012 before relocating his business south. His expertise dates back to 1967, the year he first started in the field as an associate at Topken & Farley in New York City. He spent the next six years there, eventually becoming a partner in the firm. He then joined Conboy, Hewitt, O'Brien & Boardman for another 13 years. He went on to serve as counsel and partner for several other firms throughout the city over the next two decades before going into business for himself. Mr. Suhr noted that some of his favorite times in his career were when he served as a mediator in the New Jersey Superior Court from 2000 to 2010, and as a qualified arbitrator in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey from 1985 to 2015.
A longtime member of the New Jersey and New York Bar Associations, Mr. Suhr has been serving as vice president and trustee of the German-American School Association since 1986. The German-American School Association is a non-profit organization that offers classroom-based German language programs to children ages 3-17, and as vice president, treasurer and trustee of the German Society of the City of New York since 1976. The German Society is a charitable organization that was established in 1784 to assist newly arrived German immigrants into their orientation to the U.S. He formerly spent a number of years as a trustee of the Liederkranz Foundation, Inc. in New York prior to 2000.
Following in the footsteps of his mother and maternal grandfather, both attorneys, Mr. Suhr noted that his grandfather, Samuel Isenschmid, was a U.S. Attorney in New York who worked mostly in customs law. His mother was one of two women in the class of 1934 at Columbia University Law School. They practiced together until she retired in 1973.
Now a freelance writer, Mr. Suhr is writing theater reviews, something he finds to be both interesting and rewarding. He formerly contributed various articles to professional legal journals during his years in law. Mr. Suhr holds his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and JD from American University and since became admitted to the New Jersey and New York Bar Associations and the Supreme Court of the United States. Honored with a Certificate of Appreciation by the senior citizen advisory board of the Little Egg Harbor Township Committee, he has also been cited in more than 40 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in Finance and Industry. Married with two children and eight grandchildren, Mr. Suhr enjoys fishing and woodworking in retirement.
