After accruing 45 years of practiced industry experience, Dr. Post retired as a forest biologist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Over the years, he has worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a soil conservationist trainee, firefighting laborer, and forest biologist. In addition to these professional experiences, Dr. Post gained valuable expertise from his time with the Ohio Division of Forestry, the U.S. Air Force and the University of Vermont. In 1982 and 1983, he was on loan to the University of Hawaii as assistant director of the Hawaii Agricultural Experiment Station.
An expert in his field, Dr. Post holds a Bachelor of Science in botany from Ohio University, and a Master of Forestry and Doctor of Forestry from Duke University. In addition, he obtained fellowships from the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Society of American Foresters. Due to the fact that his industry is always changing, he affiliated himself with the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations, the International Society of Tropical Foresters, and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society.
Throughout his career, Dr. Post has contributed his knowledge to a host of articles in professional journals such as the International Journal of Forest Ecology & Management, having served on their editorial board from 1976 to 1990. A member of the board of directors and a member of the Virginia Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation from 2009 to 2015, he was inducted into Corning Union High School's Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
An active member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Ohio, Dr. Post intends to continue enjoying his retirement.
