During her career in 1985 she worked as a contracts administrator and paralegal with Torrence Lawn Care and Torrence Scholarship Service. By 1990 Dr. Torrence was working as the chief executive officer of Torrence Group Home, Inc., in San Bernardino, CA, where she remained until 1995. She is the author of "Abuses in American Society" (1991) and "Children of Abuse: A Continuing Cycle - Past, Present, Future" (1993), Dr. Torrence is a longstanding member of the National Association of Female Executives, Women in Military Service American Memorial Foundation, National Association of Legal Secretaries, National Management Association, NAACP, American Legion, Red hat Society, Smithsonian Institute, National Museum of African American History & Culture, and Southern Poverty Law Center, among others.
Dr. Torrence earned several college and university certificates and degrees: Certified Paralegal Certificate, California State University, San Bernardino, CA in 1985; Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1989, and Master of Science in Counseling and Human Services in 1991 at Pacific Western University, Los Angeles, CA. In 1993 she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling and Psychology at Kensington University, Glendale, CA.
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Torrence is the proud mother of two daughters and three grandchildren. She loves to read, travel internationally, play tennis, swim in her down time, and meet new people. Notably, she has been cited in more than 15 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in Finance and Business.
A former company executive and writer, Dr. Torrence most recently worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a training specialist, group leader, data conversion operator, and customer service representative between 1995 and 2013. Since her retirement she has been working as a consultant and group counselor.
