With a Bachelor of Arts from Wayne State University, he began working in the government with the U.S. Postal Office and as a public aid worker with the city of Detroit. He also served in U.S. Army, where he was able to befriend legendary boxer and activist, Muhammad Ali while stationed in Louisville, Kentucky. Mr. Richardson then went on to work for Ford Motor Company before obtaining a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Wayne State University.
Mr. Richardson began his legal career as an attorney with Brown, Grier and Richardson Professional Corporation. Throughout his career, he has seen many successes, such as being appointed as an Honorary Special Agent with the Office of Investigations, and serving as the Special Assistant to the Attorney General of Michigan. Mr. Richardson also served on several boards of directors, appeals, and committees.
Mr. Richardson attributes his many professional successes to working hard, being diligent, caring about people and the community, and trying to do the best for his community. He is also proud of his family, specifically his sister, Dr. Gloria Richardson-Smith, who was the first nurse to be named director of the Michigan Department of Public Health. Mr. Richardson also takes on pro bono cases for his peers in his senior citizen community.
Today, Mr. Richardson continues to work on his own cases, as well as three probate cases left by his late partner. Additionally, in order to remain active and engaged in his community and industry, he maintains affiliation with the NAACP, the American Arbitration Association, the Legal Aid Defender Association, the Michigan State Bar Fellows, Phi Alpha Delta, and Kappa Alpha Psi. Looking toward the future, Mr. Richardson plans to fully retire when he reaches 50 years of service.
