An expert in industrial organization, microeconomic theory and econometrics, Dr. Seldon was retained many times between 2000 and 2017 as an expert economist for various personal injury, wrongful termination, fraud and other types of cases.
Additionally, Dr. Seldon worked as a professor on the Republic of Panama campus at Florida State University from 2012 to 2013 as well as the University of Texas at Dallas from 1998 to 2012. Previously, he served at the the University of Texas at Dallas as an associate professor from 1992 to 1998 and assistant professor from 1990 to 1992. An assistant professor at Ohio University from 1984 to 1990, Dr. Seldon contributed to Duke University as an instructor from 1983 to 1984 and teaching and research assistant in 1981.
In addition to these appointments, Dr. Seldon was an instructor and research assistant at Florida State University from 1979 to 1980. A statistician for the Florida Supreme Court from 1975 to 1976, he held the roles of statistician, research assistant, and computer systems analyst for the Florida Department of Commerce between 1976 and 1978. The director of economics programs at the University of Texas at Dallas from 2003 to 2007, Dr. Seldon was the coordinator for a Master of Science in internal affairs program Florida State University in 2013, a Master of Science in applied economics program at the University of Texas at Dallas from 1998 to 2002 and Bachelor of Arts and Science in economics and finance program the University of Texas at Dallas from 1993 to 1996.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Seldon pursued an education at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, earning a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1971. He continued his academic efforts with a Master of Science in political science in 1973 at Florida State University. Following these accomplishments, he completed postgraduate coursework at Florida State University from 1978 to 1980. Dr. Seldon concluded his studies in 1985 at Duke University, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in economics.
In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Seldon remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained involvement as a longstanding member of the American Economic Association, the Industrial Organization Society and the National Association of Forensic Economics. He has also been active as an associate member of the American Bar Association. Likewise, Dr. Seldon was a member of the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society.
Dr. Seldon found success with his written works as well. He was the co-author of "The Economic Benefits of Forestry Research" in 1992, and has contributed to dozens of scholarly articles, professional papers, reports, monographs and editorials to such esteemed journals as the International Journal of Management and Economics, Political Research Quarterly, International Journal of Industrial Organization, American Review of Public Administration, and Journal of Economics and Business, among others. From 1993 to 1995, he was a guest editor for Forest Science. Having refereed approximately 20 academic journals, Dr. Seldon has supervised nearly a dozen dissertations during his academic career.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Seldon has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He has been presented with a Distinguished Professor in Diversity & Multicultural Education Award from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2011, a Research Grant from Ohio University in 1986, and a Cooperative State Research Service Grant in 1985. He has been recognized as a Senior Fellow of the National Center for Policy Analysis since 1996, a Senior Fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies and Information Services since 2003, a Graduate Scholar of Duke University from 1981 to 1984, and a Resource & Environmental Policy Research Scholar of Duke University from 1982 to 1983.
