With more than 30 years of industry experience to his credit, Dr. Jung has worked as the vice president of the System LSI Division for Samsung since 2008. Prior to this appointment, he held the position of vice president of the Memory Division for Samsung from 2007 to 2008 and a principal research engineer in the Memory Division for Samsung Electronics in 2006. Previously, he served Samsung Electronics as a project director for SRAM Technology from 2004 to 2006, project manager for SRAM Technology in 2003, and a project leader from 2000 to 2002. Dr. Jung began his career at Samsung as a research engineer from 1986 to 1991, senior designer in 1996, senior research engineer from 1997 to 1998 and principal research engineer from 1998 to 2000.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Jung pursued an education at Hanyang University, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1984. Following this accomplishment, he was certified as a metallurgy engineer in the Republic of Korea that same year. He continued his academic efforts with a Master of Science in 1986, also from Hanyang University. Dr. Jung concluded his studies in 1996 at the University of Florida, graduating with a Doctor of Philosophy in materials science engineering.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Jung has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He contributed to many conferences as a lecturer, including a Symposium on VLSI Circuits in 2004 and the International Solid State Circuits Conference for the IEEE in 2005. He held the role of instructor for Seoul National University from 2002 to 2008, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 2003, 2005, and 2007, Pohang University of Science and Technology in 2003, 2005, and 2007, and Hanyang University in 1999.
Additionally, Dr. Jung has previously completed service with the Republic of Korea Army. Dr. Jung found success with his written works as well, having been active as a contributing author for "3D Integration and Package for Memory" for Artech House Publishing in 2008 and co-author for "Integrated Interconnect Technology for 3D NanoElectronic Systems." Currently, he holds 23 patents in the United States and 32 patents in the Republic of Korea. Dr. Jung also maintained involvement as a contributor to 26 esteemed research publications.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Jung has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He was recognized as a nominee for International Engineer of the Year by the International Biographical Centre in 2010. He was presented with the Takuo Sugano for Outstanding Far East Paper Award from the IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference in 2009, the Special Topic Session Award from the IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference in 2006, the Grand Prize from the Nano Korea Awards of the Korea Nano Technology Research Society in 2004, and a Technology Awards Golden Prize from Samsung in 1988. Dr. Jung was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Asia and Who's Who in the World.
