Dr. Schnecker is a former managing senior partner of Schnecker van Wyk & Pearson who held this role between 1991 and 2014. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa with additional offices in the U.S., Romania, Great Britain, Turkey, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Russia and Moldavia, van Wyk & Pearson is a major international law firm, strategic management advisor and financial engineering consultant. An attorney who became very involved with parliament and government matters over the years, Dr. Schnecker recently served as a campaign director for Crin Antonescu who was both a candidate for Romanian president and Speaker of the Romanian senate, whose counsel he was from 2013 to 2014.
Earning a Master of Laws in 1982 and Doctor of Philosophy in Economics in 1987 at the University of Paris, Dr. Schnecker completed a Master of Business Administration at the National School of Business Studies in 1990. He is a CPA in Romania and Certified Corporate Economist and Economic Policy Advisor.
Recruited out of the University of Paris, Dr. Schnecker first worked as a junior floor trader for Merrill Lynch Pierce Fenner & Smith in London for nine months before accepting an opportunity as a manager and vice president of Degefa Reisen in Frankfurt, Germany. Shortly thereafter, he began working as an associate for Chula & May, a law firm in Santa Anna, Calif. He then served as the vice president, president and chief executive officer of the International Investment Bankers Group before becoming the general manager of research and development for Federal Express (XPS) in Johannesburg. Dr. Schnecker also taught for a brief time as a professor of management at the National School of Political Administration Studies in Romania and at the American Academy of Finance Management.
During his career, Dr. Schnecker served as counsel to The White House in Washington during the mid-1980s, was a chief counsel for the Phumelo Foundation and the African National Congress during the early 1990s, and was a counsel for the Romanian Parliament between 1993 and 2006. He continues to serve as a longtime committee member for the U.S. Republican Party since 1985. Furthermore, Dr. Schnecker has been a talk show host for Radio Romanul in Madrid, Spain since 2015 and Romania TV in Bucharest, Romania since 2014, having formerly had his own political and economic analysis show at Antenna 3 TV (the Romanian CNN affiliate station) from 2010 to 2013.
Likewise, Dr. Schnecker is a longstanding member of the American Management Association, the American Bank Attorneys Association, the Institute of Directors, the Chartered Institute of Bankers and the Jewish Lawyers Association, among others. Additionally, he was an elected fellow of the American Academy of Finance Management. Dr. Schnecker has been showcased in more than 35 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Finance and Business and Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
