Currently an honorary affiliate professor in the Laboratory of Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado since 2017, Dr. Roederer has devoted 50 years to the field.

Dr. Roederer's research interests have included space physics, psychoacoustics, science policy and information theory. He has conducted pioneering research on solar cosmic rays, the theory of the Earth's radiation belts, neural networks for pitch processing and the foundations of information theory. An elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Geophysical Union, from which he was presented with a 2000 Edward A. Flinn III Award, Dr. Roederer is also a longtime member, honorary member and corresponding member of several other professional organizations relative to his field.
