A descendant of a long line of school teachers, Mr. Glickman has served in education for more than four decades. As a qualified professional, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Franklin College and a Master of Science from the College of Staten Island, and he is a certified teacher of social studies in the state of New York. His older brother, Stephen Glickman, who also began his career in education, helped him land his first position as a teacher's aide with the New York City Board of Education. He was also inspired to enter his field by his mother and his uncle, Leon S. Milmed, who helped pay for his college education. Mr. Glickman will be forever grateful to his wife Irma Glickman, who has been a faithful and loving wife. "Without my beautiful wife," he says, "life would have been much tougher. She is the love of my life. Irma was responsible for my going back to school to obtain my Master's degree." Throughout his career, Mr. Glickman has taught economics and social studies at several New York City high schools. He has also served as a tutor, and as an adjunct professor and a lecturer at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, NY, and Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, CT, respectively.
Civically, Mr. Glickman has volunteered with Volunteers in Service to America, served as the head of the Young Democrats at Franklin College, and taught a literacy program at John Jay High School, where he was able to help a senior class complete the course with a 75 percent passing rate. In order to remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Glickman maintains affiliation with the United Federation of Teachers and the America Federation of Teachers. As a testament to his professional achievements, Mr. Glickman was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in the World.
