Additionally, he has gained valuable experience through other positions at Columbia University, as well as Habitat for Humanity.
An expert in his field, Mr. Heinzerling holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University and a Master of Arts in international journalism from Ohio State University. His education and professional resume combined have allowed him to cover some very important news stories, including the Soweto uprising in South Africa in 1976, and in 1989 he was assigned to quietly explore ways to win the freedom of Terry Anderson, a fellow correspondent, from Middle East jihadists. Since the start of his career, his professional accomplishments have been rewarded through the Associated Press. He was a Pulitzer finalist for his coverage in 1976 of turmoil in southern Africa. He has been featured in many editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
