ST. PETERSBURG, FL, August 15, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Peter Lousberg with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Peter Lousberg celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Prior to pursuing his study for his law degree, Mr. Lousberg earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Yale University (1953) where he was active in leadership roles in the Yale Chapter of The National Student Association and in his fraternity; and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Notre Dame. cum laude (1956), where he served as Associate Editor of the law school's journal, The Notre Dame Lawyer.
Mr. Lousberg's first experience in the practice of law was as Law Clerk to the late Honorable Justice John Lewe of the Illinois Appellate Court, First District. A reservist in the United States Marine Corps, he next was called to active duty where he served as an Air Group legal officer, then as Defense Counsel and finally as the Trial Counsel for The Second Marine Aircraft Wing. He returned to civilian practice of law as an Assistant States Attorney for the County of Rock Island, Illinois.
Mr. Lousberg ultimately turned to the private practice of law, centered in civil law trial, arbitration and mediation remedies which he likens to a "bicameral chamber." One chamber pertains to the lawyer-client relationship: ideally open and complete trust in truth of facts and explanation of pertinent legal procedures within the client's ability to understand. Also Mr. Lousberg stressed, in his CLE lectures, attorney fees and expenses require a thorough discussion and understanding with the client. No lawyer, he maintains, can justify a failure in this element of attorney-client relations; no lawyer needs a fee litigation against a client. The second chamber relates to professionalism of the lawyer. There is an expensive cost to professionalism: continuing legal education.
Over the years he provided legal services to various legal organizations: as legal counsel and hearing officer for three separate Fire and Police Commissions, an Illinois Commissioner on the National Conference for Uniform State Laws; and as a member of the late United States Senator Paul Simons' commission to screen applicants for nomination to the federal bench.
Mr. Lousberg lived in Rock Island County, Illinois. served as a special counsel for the Rock Island Model Cities Task Force; and chaired the Rock Island Youth Guidance Council.
Consistent with his strong commitment that attorneys have an obligation to not only professionally engage in their particular practice but to also commit to the continuing betterment of the legal profession in general, Mr. Lousberg served five years in the executive chairs of the Illinois State Bar Association, including the State Bar's office of President in 1992 to 1993. He was an Illinois delegate to the American Bar Association where he was instrumental in creating the first ABA state bar caucus in the ABA House of Delegates. He affiliated with the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, The American Law Institute, The American College of Trial Lawyers, The National Legal Aid and Defenders Association, and the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
Throughout his career he authored sundry articles for professional journals, including an article on dram shop law trials in the American Jurisprudence Encyclopedia of Trial Law. Additionally, he has had the honor of being included in features in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, and Who's Who in American Law for his excellence in the field.
The view ahead? Mr. Lousberg intends to continue enjoying his retirement with wife JoAnn, three adult children Macara and son-in-law Eric, Mark and Steve and college student granddaughter Natalie. And share too his and his wife's passion for award winning photography.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Peter Lousberg has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
