LANSDALE, PA, August 16, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present John M. Grasse Jr., MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Grasse celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Since 1994, Dr. Grasse has been a licensed psychiatrist working in his private practice with the McLaughlin Indian Health Center and other clinics as well as a private practice in Calico Rock, Arkansas and Akron, Pennsylvania. With more than 35 years of accrued experience, he was also a dedicated medical missionary who spent 5 years with the Africa Inter-Mennonite Mission, a non-profit organization that consists of a network of church conferences, congregations, groups and individuals who see themselves as part of a global family under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
He spent the early 1960s working in Nigeria in a 99-bed hospital and also managed 16 outpatient clinics. Quickly becoming overworked and burnt out, Dr. Grasse desired to move back to the U.S. and spent the remainder of his medical career making a difference within his own country.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, he served in the U.S. Army for a year. Dr. Grasse earned a Bachelor of Science in biology at Juniata College and a Doctor of Medicine at Jefferson University. He later spent a year as an assistant professor of psychiatry at Texas University Health and Science Center in San Antonio, TX. Between 1975 and 1980, he was asked to teach as an assistant professor at the Hershey Medical Center at Pennsylvania State University, where he focused on psychotherapy. Notably, the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is currently ranked the best hospital in the South Central Pennsylvania region and #4 in the state.
A member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Academy of Family Practice, Dr. Grasse is a former president of the Fellows Association of the Menninger School of Psychiatry as well as a former Psychiatric Fellow of the US Government. Locally, he has been involved as pastoral visitor at the Living Branches Retirement Home, is active with Care and Share, was president of the Lions Club of Calico Rock, and has been known for preaching in many churches within his community. Dr. Grasse has been cited in the 55th edition of Who's Who in America, the 2nd and 5th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
