Earlier in his career, Dr. Pan was a research assistant with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology from 2004 to 2007.
Dr. Pan was inspired to pursue a career in the field from an early age, when a teacher of his showed him a computer and he was intrigued by its possibilities. He began his career as a student at Sun Yat-sen University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in computer science, summa cum laude, in 2003. He then joined the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in computer science in 2007.
A respected voice in the field, Dr. Pan has been affiliated with numerous organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and he is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and Sigma Xi. The author of "Programming in PHP," he has contributed to numerous scientific papers and reviewed multiple professional publications. Dr. Pan has also been invited to talks in several nations, including China, Australia and the United States.
Throughout his career, Dr. Pan has been recognized for his contributions, having received First Prize from the Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education National Mathematics Contest. Google awarded him the Prestigious EMG Award, and he was named an EB-1A and O-1A Extraordinary Scientist.
