GERMANTOWN, MD, September 01, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Yung Wu with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Yung Wu celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After amassing a wealth of knowledge in chemistry over the course of 35 years, Dr. Wu retired from his role as a research chemist with the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Earlier in his career, he worked in similar capacities for Oak Ridge National Laboratory, IBM and the Portland Cement Association. Throughout his career, he developed the thermodynamic Cross-Square Rule, and honed his expertise in pH, conductivity and thermal safety, and invented an absolute determination for electrolytic conductivity, which earned him an IR100 Award. He also helped in a group to develop a sample simulator for a breath alcohol tester. Additionally, he contributed his vast knowledge to a plethora of publications, including "molality-based primary standards for electrolytic conductivity"; "Thermodynamics of the second dissociation constant for sulfuric acid" and pH Standards for biological fluids, as well as "The criteria for thermal safety".
After growing up in China during the war with Japan, Dr. Wu earned a Bachelor of Science from Sun Yat-Sen University. He never expected to have the opportunity to come to the United States because he grew up poor, but he was very fortunate and was able to pursue a Master of Science at the University of Houston and a Ph.D. in Chemistry with the University of Chicago. Before retiring, he remained abreast of industry changes through his affiliation with the American Chemical Society. For his professional accomplishments, he has been honored with features in the 57th and 58th volumes of Who's Who in America. Looking ahead, Dr. Wu intends to enjoy his retirement.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Yung Wu has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
