In this position, she specialized in providing her expertise in systems analysis and engineering. Prior to obtaining this role, she worked as a systems engineer with IBM from 1962 to 1964.
Ms. Kirkpatrick began her career as a student at Wellesley College, completing coursework in 1957. She then studied at Laval University in 1958, followed by the University of Arizona in 1959. Ms. Kirkpatrick subsequently joined the University of Michigan for a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy in 1961. Following her educational endeavors, she relocated to Chicago, IL, and through an employment test found that she had a natural talent for computers, which led to her joining IBM.
A respected voice in her fields, Ms. Kirkpatrick is affiliated with numerous organizations in her community. She is the former president of the Hinsdale Women's Republican Club in Illinois, as well as the former treasurer for the Taproot Republicans of DuPage County, IL. Ms. Kirkpatrick has also served on the board of directors for the Chicago Wellesley Club.
