DALLAS, TX, September 01, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Gregory Huffman with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Huffman celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With 45 years of professional experience, Mr. Huffman has been of counsel for Thompson & Knight since 2015, having served from associate up through senior partner with the company since 1973 and serving on its management committee. In addition to his primary roles, he has been an active member of his community, having served on the advisory committee on professionalism for the Texas Supreme Court, as administrative chair and on the board of directors of Texas Appleseed of the Appleseed Foundation, as a board member of the Love Field Action Commission, on the board of directors of Common Cause of Texas, and as president of the Northern Hills Neighborhood Association.
Mr. Huffman was inspired to pursue a career in the legal field by his father, who became a lawyer despite never having attended college nor attaining a law degree. When his father died, Mr. Huffman persuaded the federal government to name a mountain after his father in Big Bend National Park in recognition of the legislative work done by his father in founding the Park.
Mr. Huffman began his career as a student at Stanford University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in history, with great distinction, in 1969. He then attended the London School of Economics for postgraduate work, before earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Harvard University in 1973.
Mr. Huffman has been admitted to practice in the state of Texas, as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, and several other federal courts. He has been recognized as a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, the Dallas Bar Foundation, the American Bar Foundation and the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is the former president of the Harvard Law School Association of Texas, former chair of the State Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and an original member of the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Throughout his career, Mr. Huffman has been recognized for his contributions, having twice been named among the Best Lawyers in America and one of the Top Ten Antitrust Lawyers seven times. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest. Mr. Huffman considers the highlights of his career having been the first to approach the Dallas Bar about professionalism codes, having authored an amendment to the Sherman Act, and having married Mary Lynne Murphy (a recently-retired trial and appellate judge) and fathered two fine sons Ted and Mark (both of whom are practicing lawyers).
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Gregory Huffman has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
