Prior to this appointment, she held the position of lecturer at Delaware Valley University in 2007, the Riverrun Gallery in 2007, Prallsville Mills as a part of their New Hope Modernists in 2003, the Bucks Fever Artists' Studio Tour as a part of "Discovering Bucks County Women Artists" in 2003, the James A. Michener Art Museum in 1999, and Mercer County Community College in 1990. During this time, she additionally served as a teacher at the Robert Beck Academy in 2011, in Stockton, NJ, from 2005 to 2008, James A. Michener Art Museum from 2001 to 2002, Bucks County Community College from 1994 to 1996, and Mercer County Community College from 1989 to 1993. Ms. Martin began her career as a teacher at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women from 1970 to 1972, the Solebury School from 1973 to 1977, and the College of Marin from 1980 to 1982.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Martin pursued an education at Otis College of Art and Design. She continued her efforts at Pasadena City College and UCLA. Following these accomplishments, Ms. Martin obtained certification as an accredited special secondary teacher.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Martin has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. Her work as an artist has been featured in solo exhibitions at such lauded venues as the Marta Aizenman Gallery in 1999, the Anne Reid '72 Gallery in 1997, the Hunterdon Art Museum in 1991, and the Golden Door Gallery in 1985, among others. She has also contributed artwork to group shows, including the Byers' Choice Invitational Exhibit in 2011. Ms. Martin found success with her written works as well, having authored multiple articles for esteemed journals.
In addition to her primary activities, Ms. Martin remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She has notably maintained involvement with Bucks County Artists. She was also active with the Roots Critique Group from 2001 to 2010 and the Princeton Artists Alliance from 1990 to 2006. From 1998 forward, Ms. Martin is an honorary member of the Phillips' Mill Art Association.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Martin has accrued several accolades throughout her impressive career. She was recognized as an Honored Artist for the Phillips' Mill Art Exhibition in 2012, Outstanding Artist of the Year by the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce in 1995 and 1999, a grantee of the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation in 1996, and a Senior Artists Initiative grantee of the James A. Michener Art Museum in 2007. Ms. Martin was presented with the First Prize for Painting for the Hunterdon Art Museum in 1991, First Prize for Painting from the Juried Exhibit at Artsbridge in 1993, the National Exhibit Purchase Prize from the College of New Jersey in 1995, and the Patrons Prize for Painting from the Phillips' Mill Art Exhibition in 1998.
Ms. Martin has further garnered the Purchase Prize from the James A. Michener Art Museum and New Hope Arts, as well as Second Prize for Painting from the Hunterdon County Cultural & Heritage Commission in 2010.
