WILMETTE, IL, September 06, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Helen Coburn Meier with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Meier celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As "Helen Merrier", she is an actress and writer who has been acquiring credits since 1934, when she was just a toddler. Holding roles in such renowned productions as "Cat on a Tin Roof," "A Christmas Carol" and "Sweeney Todd," she was also involved in solo plays such as "Lady Lucinda's Scrapbook" during the 1990s and solo cabarets like "Stephen Foster in Song and Story" beginning in 2001. Born into a family where both parents were working in radio, she was first introduced to the entertainment business when she joined them on the air age of two, participating in "Ma Perkins" and "Standard Schoolhouse of the Air." By the age of 15, she was involved in many soap operas and, by 21, was further engaged in theater. Today, Ms. "Merrier" does commercial and print ads, including a billboard, a magazine cover, and was a principal in a 2017 Super Bowl commercial.
Ms. Meier founded The Helen Coburn Meier and Tim Meier Charitable Foundation for the Arts with her husband, Tim Meier, a mid-century modern painter based in the Chicago and Key West area, with more than 2,000 oil paintings sold and now in 70 countries. Established in 2006, their foundation offers The Meier Achievement Award, a cash award granted every Thanksgiving to encourage mid-career arts professionals to continue their originality in writing, musical composition, choreography and visual arts.
Ms. Meier earned a Bachelor of Arts (Speech, Drama and Modern Dance) at Mills College in 1954 and a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology at Northwestern in 1955. A member of the Victory Services Club in London and The Arts Club of Chicago, she remains an active member of the Social Services committee of the Metro Chicago Board of The Salvation Army, continuing a lifetime interest in keeping families together during crisis. Recognized with the Spirit of the Theater Award in 2000 by Chicago Actors Equity members and with a Distinguished Service Award from The Salvation Army in 2000, Ms. "Merrier" has also been highlighted in approximately 40 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment and Who's Who in the World.
