Throughout his career, he has discovered new polycyclic ether antibiotics, anasmycin antibiotics, a novel synthase inhibitor and novel quinolone compounds. Additionally, Dr. Huang helped to describe a new genus of actinomycetes, a new species of Nocardia, Penicillium and Zopfiella.
An expert in his field, Dr. Huang holds a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Wisconsin. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he affiliated himself with the Myocological Society of America, the American Society for Microbiology, the Society for Industrial Microbiology and the New York Academy of Sciences. Utilizing his vast breadth of knowledge, he has contributed to numerous articles in professional journals, including Mycologia, the American and Canadian Journals of Botany, the Journal of Industrial Microbiology and the International Journal of Systematic Bacteriology. Since 1990, Dr. Huang has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Antibiotics as well.
For his excellence in the field, Dr. Huang has been honored with the Outstanding Scientist of the 21st Century Award through the International Biographical Center. Likewise, he was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
