More than 30 years ago, Mr. McFarland started in economics with the Federal Reserve System. Subsequently, he served as an economist with the American Medical Association and the American Hospital Association before moving into the legal field. Since the 1980s, he has served as legal assistant with Bassett and Morrison, Gaitan & Cusack, Le Gros, Buchanan & Paul, and, most recently, Stafford Frey Cooper, PC, from which he retired in 2000.
Currently, Mr. McFarland works as a freelance contributor for various publications. Having authored many articles on economics and journalism for a variety of journals, he has moved into the world of fiction writing. In the early 1980s, Mr. McFarland wrote a children's book called "The Exploding Frog."
Prior to starting in the field, Mr. McFarland holds a Bachelor of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Master of Arts from Johns Hopkins University. From 1964 to 1966, he completed postgraduate coursework at Harvard University. From 1976 to 1981, Mr. McFarland held the position of economist for the United States Department of Energy and the Federal Energy Administration.
In order to remain aware of industry changes, Mr. McFarland affiliated himself with the Economic Association, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and PEN America. A contributor to numerous articles in professional journals, he has been featured in Who's Who in Finance and Industry and Who's Who in the West. Looking toward the future, Mr. McFarland intends to continue contributing to industry publications in his freelance role.
