A former senior staff procurement representative for Lockheed Martin, formerly known as Martin Marietta Aerospace Company, Mr. Charlson retired in 2011 after 28 years. He also formerly served as a program material representative from 1982 to 1983, subcontract administrator from 1980 to 1982 and logistics engineer from 1978 to 1980 for the aerospace and defense company.
A longtime member of the National Society of Scabbard and Blade, Phi Theta Kappa and Delta Sigma Pi, Mr. Charlson has been active as a member of the alumni associations at his alma maters, Cameron University and Oklahoma State University, since 2007. He formerly volunteered with the Animal Rescue Foundation of Bartlesville and the Jane Philips Medical Center, also in Bartlesville. He has established and funded scholarships at Oklahoma State University in 2011 and at Cameron University in 2014.
Mr. Charlson received multiple awards for achievements in his field. Lockheed Martin honored him with an Outstanding Small Business Performance Award in 2004, a Pro Action Team Performance Excellence Award in 2003 and a Meritorious Achievement for Performance Excellence to the Javelin Multi-Year Proposal Team in 1998. He also received a TI/Martin Javelin Joint Venture Company Procurement Administrator of the Year Award in 1997 and a Martin Marietta Tactical Interdiction Systems Procurement and Subcontractors Employee of the Quarter Award in 1987. For his military service, he also received many awards, most recently including a Meritorious Service Medal in 1995, an Armed Forces Service Medal in 1987, a U.S. Army Commendation Medal with a First Oak Leaf Cluster in 1977, and a Bronze Star Medal in 1966. Named Aerospace Subcontract Management Professional of the Year by Strathmore Who's Who in 2009, Mr. Charlson has also been cited in the 20th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
After graduating from college with an Associate of Arts from Cameron University in 1964 and Bachelor of Science in finance at Oklahoma State University in 1966, Mr. Charlson went straight into the military, becoming a commissioned officer of the U.S. Army and later advancing to lieutenant colonel in 1982. In 1977, he received a Master of Science in management at Troy University. He is certified through the National Contract Management Association.
