Laurence Thomas has received fellowships through the National Humanities Center and Harvard University.

Over the years, Dr. Thomas has also worked as a visiting professor at the University of South Africa, a visiting scholar in the religion department of the University of Michigan and a presenter of Kovlar lectures at the Medical School of the University of Cape Town.
Additionally, Dr. Thomas has received fellowships through the National Humanities Center and Harvard University. Throughout his career, he has written a plethora of philosophical essays regarding the issues of gratitude and trust of which he has been proud. Additionally, Dr. Thomas has contributed his extensive knowledge to such creative works as "The Family and the Political Self," "Upside-Down Equality: A Response to Kantian Thought," "The Moral Self in the Face of Injustice," "Sexual Orientation and Human Rights" and "Vessels of Evil," as well as more than 100 articles.
Recognized as Teacher of the Year at Syracuse University, Dr. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Philosophy from the University of Maryland. He has further obtained a Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Thomas was presented with an honorary Doctor of Laws from New England College.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Thomas affiliates himself with the American Society for Political and Legal Philosophy and the American Philosophical Association. For his excellence in the field, he has been recognized with the National Endowment for the Humanities Award. In the coming years, Dr. Thomas intends to experience the continued success of his work at Syracuse University.
