SAN FRANCISCO, CA, September 08, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Demarest Campbell has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Amassing more than four decades of professional excellence in interior design, home renovation, art and writing, Ms. Campbell has been the sole proprietor of Demarest Campbell Art and Interiors in San Francisco, CA, since 1975. While heading her eponymous company, she also worked as a journeyman scenic artist with the San Francisco Opera from 1976 to 1982 and a chargeman scenic artist with the American Conservatory Theater from 1976 to 2011. Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Campbell has been a member of several art and music institutions in San Francisco, including the National Organization for Women, the San Francisco Opera, the San Francisco Symphony, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, and the Asian Art Museum.
A designer, painter and sculptor of more than 300 productions for Broadway, international operas and motion pictures, Ms. Campbell was raised in West Bengal, India, and listened firsthand to stories of the British Raj. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in art history, a Master of Fine Arts in Asian art history, and a Master of Fine Arts in theatre design. In order to remain aware of recent developments within her areas of interest, Ms. Campbell maintains affiliation with several societies and organizations, including the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, the Art Directors Guild, the Sherlock Holmes Society of London, the International Society of Malthus, Amnesty International, and the Humane Society of the United States, where she has remained a millennium member.
Retiring from her career in fine art and interior design, Ms. Campbell recently settled down to pursue writing on a full-time basis, having previously been an avid reader of classic literature, period pieces and historical nonfiction. She published her debut novel, "Baby Snakes," in 2015, a self-described eccentric story that takes place during the British Raj in Calcutta, India, in the late 19th century. Revolving around the dynamics of clandestine relationships, opium and treason in the midst of a turbulent Indian environment, "Baby Snakes" is a complex, dramatic work of historical fiction whose pages have thrilled the hearts of countless readers.
As a testament to her professional success, Ms. Campbell was the recipient of the Bay Area Theatre Critics' Award. In addition, she was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. Ms. Campbell recently wrote the screenplay for "Baby Snakes," due to be released in 2018.
