An accomplished and esteemed attorney, Mr. Gaille has amassed more than two decades of professional experience in the legal industry. The president of the Gaille Group since 2007 and managing partner of GAILLE PLLC since 2015, he focuses his practice on domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, EPC, project development transactions, private equity investments and joint ventures. He provides general counsel services and represents clients in both domestic and international energy transactions. In addition, Mr. Gaille is an adjunct professor of management at Rice University and a lecturer in law at The University of Chicago Law School.
Prior to these illustrious roles, Mr. Gaille served as a chief compliance officer and general counsel at ZaZa Energy Corporation from 2012 to 2015, business development director at Occidental Oil and Gas Company from 2004 to 2007, legal manager at Occidental Middle East Development Company from 2001 to 2004, and associate attorney at Vinson and Elkins from 1996 to 2001. He commenced his career as a judicial clerk for Honorable Chief Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit from 1995 to 1996. Mr. Gaille has been admitted to practice in Texas, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Fifth and Sixth, and District of Columbia Circuits.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Gaille pursued a formal education at the University of Texas at Austin, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in government, with high honors, in 1992. He subsequently attended the University of Chicago, where he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with high honors, in 1995. While pursuing his law degree, he served as executive editor of Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy and was elected to the University of Chicago Law Review and The Order of the Coif. Additionally, Mr. Gaille has been recognized as a Tony Patino Fellow in Public Service, an Olin Fellow in Law and Economics, and a Bradley Fellow in Constitutional History.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Gaille has served on the board of trustees and the finance committee for the Houston Grand Opera. Likewise, he is a lifetime member of the Eagle Scout Association. In an effort to remain aware of changes within the industry, he maintains affiliation with the Energy Bar Association, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, the National Association of Corporate Directors and the Travelers' Century Club, through which he has visited more than 130 nations, including 30 countries in Africa.
Mr. Gaille is the author of six books as well, including "Construction Energy Development" in 2017, "Shale Energy Development" in 2014, and "International Energy Development" in 2011, among others. In addition, he has contributed myriad articles to professional journals regarding energy law and education. In light of his exceptional achievements in law, Mr. Gaille has accrued several accolades, and has been highlighted in several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
