Dr. Gardner is a respected doctor and educator who has been in the field for more than 60 years. An emeritus associate professor of neurology in the School of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University since 1998, who most recently practiced medicine at the University Suburban Health Care Center in Cleveland between 1975 and 1996, he is the former chief of neurology at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland of 18 years who also spent two years as an officer in charge in neurology at the U.S. Air Force Hospital Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS.
Dr. Gardner spent several years as the president of the greater Cleveland chapter of the Epilepsy Foundation of America and as chairman of the Mediation Communications Academy of Medicine. An elected fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, he is also a longtime member of the American Medical Association, the Academy of Medicine in Cleveland and the Ohio State Medical Association. He has also been a longtime vice president of the Yale Alumni Association in Cleveland since 1988.
Highly educated, Dr. Gardner was a pre-medical student at Harvard University from 1949 to 1952, followed by a Doctor of Medicine at Yale University in 1956. Completing an internship at Stanford University Hospitals in San Francisco and residency work in neurology at Boston City Hospital and in internal medicine and neuropathology at Strong Member Hospital, he later became board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Locally, he served his community as a vestryman at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Cleveland Heights, OH. Married to Anne Kates Larkin for many years until her passing in 2006, he is the proud father of two daughters and three grandchildren. Enjoying his free time skeet shooting, hunting, photography, sailing and listening to music, especially that of Apollo's Fire (Baroque) and the Cleveland Orchestra, Dr. Gardner has been showcased in more than 40 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
