The former executive vice president of Arthur J. Gallagher & Company in Los Angeles, Mr. Parrott devoted 44 years to the insurance industry before retiring in 1998. Employed at the global insurance brokerage firm for three years, he formerly served as the vice president of Johnson & Higgins in Los Angeles between 1983 and 1995 and was senior vice president of Frank B. Hall Consulting Company in Los Angeles between 1974 and 1983. Mr. Parrott also spent 20 years with Prudential Insurance Company of America. He was promoted to director of group insurance in 1967 and was transferred to Los Angeles in 1971.
Mr. Parrott has also been active in his community. He spent time as the chairman of the Danny Arnold Memorial Golf Classic at the Riviera Country Club to benefit the John Wayne Cancer Institute. He was also a member of the advisory board for Blue Cross of California, and a member of the board of directors for The Betty Clooney Foundation for Brain Injury. Mr. Parrott also served as President of United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles/Spastic Children's Foundation, chairman of the organization's annual telethon, and a member of its national board of directors. Mr. Parrott is a longtime member of organizations relative to his work; they include the American Society of CLUs, the International Foundation of Employee Benefits and the Employee Benefits Planning Association of Southern California. He was an elder at Bel Air Presbyterian Church, where he also served as chairman of the Board of Deacons.
Highly educated, Mr. Parrott first earned a Bachelor of Science in economics at Florida State University (FSU) in 1954, completed postgraduate work at the prestigious Princeton University in 1964, and later completed a Master of Business Administration at Pepperdine University in 1982. He is a chartered life underwriter. Notably, Mr. Parrott served as vice president, pledge master and inter-fraternity council representative of Delta Tau Delta at FSU and as chairman of the inter-fraternity council. He was also the president of L'Apache, a men's honorary organization.
Enjoying his retirement, Mr. Parrott is active with the Woodland Hills Country Club, the Jonathan Club of Los Angeles, the Atlanta Athletic Club, the East Lake County Club and The Commerce Club. An avid golfer, he was notably named a Tournament Champion at the Sunkist Invitational Golf Tournament in 1995.
Born in St. Louis, MO, Mr. Parrott served his country as a first lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers with the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Later marrying his wife Vivian Cleveland Miller in March 1952, he has three children. He has been showcased in more than 50 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business and Who's Who in the World.
