Earlier in her career, she worked as a social worker for Rotterdan Halfweg in the Netherlands. From there, she gained considerable expertise through Mount St. Ann's Home, the St. Vincent Medical Center, St. Joseph Hospital and Grey Nuns.
For the past 25 years, Ms. Verhesen has also offered retreat weekends for anyone enrolled in 12-Step programs. In the 70tees she was the founder of the first Northwest Ohio Detox and rehab unit at St.Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Likewise, she was the cofounder of Transitional Residences for the homeless in Toledo and the Ohio Coalition for the homeless on Columbus, OH. In the 90tees she was an alcohol, drug addiction and mental health counselor of ex-inmates at Elliot and Associates in Sylvania, OH.
An expert in her field, Ms. Verhesen holds a Bachelor of Science from Mercy College and a Master of Arts from Siena Heights University. Throughout her career, she has been honored numerous times, earning the Woman of Achievement Award from Women in Communication, the Spirit of '87 Award from Northwest Ordinance and the U.S. Constitution Bicentennial Commission, and a Man for Others Award from St. John's High School. Additionally, she has been featured in various magazines and in the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the East. In the near future, Ms. Verhesen intends to experience continued success in her private practice.
