Retired in September of 2015, Ms. Misner worked as a lab technician at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, Massachusetts from 2006 to 2008. She was also a systems engineer at TeleSpectrum Worldwide Inc. from 1999 to 2005. Prior to these roles, she was a research assistant for the Research Foundation at University of Massachusetts also in Lowell, MA, from 1987 to 1999 and a laboratory technologist at Leominster Hospital from 1971 to 1987. Ms. Misner has stayed active in her local community as her church's security sexton since 2014.
Ms. Misner earned a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Fitchburg State University in 1971. She went on to receive a Master of Science in Medical Technology from Anna Maria College in 1983, and a Certificate in Biotechnology and Bioprocessing from Mount Wachusett Community College in 2014. During this time, she became a certified novell engineer in 1997. Ms. Misner was also certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology in chemistry in 1974 and medical technology in 1977, and obtained certification for lipid measurement for the laboratory from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta which made many grants possible to her research group from the National Institutes of Health.
Ms. Misner has been an active member of the United Church of Christ's choir since 1961 and handbell choir since 1984. She was also a member of the Mountain Valley Cloggers from 1992 to 1999, and played piccolo in the Townsend Military Band from 1964 to 1993. Ms. Misner has been listed in the 27th edition of Who's Who in the East as well as several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who of American Women.
