Dr. Christopher F. Armstrong has been teaching Sociology since 1970, currently at Bloomsburg University in central Pennsylvania where he joined the faculty in 1974. From 1987 to 2017 he also consulted in business intelligence for the Williams Inference Center, a business intelligence firm that sold research on social and economic trends to corporate strategists and investment advisors. He was a visiting professor at Mount Holyoke College in 1983-84 while doing research on New England boarding schools. He has served on the Board of Governors at the Hotchkiss School, been President of The Board of Directors of both Columbia-Montour Home Health and Hospice and the Columbia-Montour Area Agency on Aging.
Dr. Armstrong graduated cum laude with Honors in Sociology from Washington and Lee University, where he was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership organization, at his fiftieth class reunion in 2017. He earned his M.A. in Criminology at The University of Pennsylvania, and, after several years as a psychiatric social worker and probation officer in Philadelphia, earned his PhD in Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania.
He is currently a member of the Eastern Sociological Society, the National Association of Scholars and an active supporter of the American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) and the Center for Individual Rights (CIR).
He has provided financial workshops for students and plans to continue that and motivational speaking for a wider audience in retirement.
