Katharine Spreng Waldmann has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the University of Maryland Medical Center from 1957 to 1958.

With nearly 50 years of industry experience, Dr. Waldmann is currently retired, having worked as the chief physician and disease control physician for the Montgomery County Health Department from 1985 to 2002. Previously, she served the Montgomery County Health Department as a school health physician from 1961 to 1988. Prior to these appointments, she held the position of instructor of internal medicine at Georgetown University from 1958 to 1962 and an instructor in psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Center from 1957 to 1958. Dr. Waldmann began her career as an intern and resident in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital from 1954 to 1957.

Before embarking on her professional path, Dr. Waldmann pursued an education at Oberlin College and Conservatory, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1950. She concluded her studies in 1954 at Case Western Reserve University, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine. Following these accomplishments, Dr. Waldmann became a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Dr. Waldmann has participated in numerous endeavors in her professional circles. She has held the role of medical consultant for Green Acres School from 1962 to 1980 and Georgetown Day School from 1974 to 1984. She was also active as a satellite principal investigator for the Women's Interagency HIV Study at Georgetown University from 1993 to 2002 and the Washington AIDS Partnership from 1993 to 1999. She has further contributed to the American Heart Association as trustee from 1967 to 1969 and on the Health and Human Services Ethics Committee for the Montgomery Hospice Society Medical Leadership Group. Dr. Waldmann has found much success with her written works as well, having penned articles for the CDC Newsletter.

In addition to her primary trade, Dr. Waldmann remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She has maintained involvement with the American Academy of HIV Medicine, the Greater Washington Infectious Disease Society and the Silver Spring Garden Club. Likewise, Dr. Waldmann was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

In light of her exceptional undertakings, Dr. Waldmann has accrued several accolades throughout her impressive career. She has been recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a Fellow of the University of Maryland Medical Center from 1957 to 1958. She was also honored as a Top Doctor and Internal Medicine Physician in Silver Spring, MD, in 2018. Dr. Waldmann was selected for inclusion in editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who of American Women.
