Florence Maltby retired from her role as an associate professor of library science at Missouri State University, where she started as an assistant professor in 1963.

Earlier in her career, she joined Barrington Public School as an elementary school librarian. Over the years, she has worked for the U.S. Air Force Dependent School in England and Germany, the University of Illinois, the Missouri State University Library and Central Michigan University Library as well.
A certified librarian and literary braille transcriber, Ms. Maltby holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Science in library science and a Certificate in Librarianship from the University of Illinois. In order to remain abreast of changes in the field, she affiliates herself with the American Association of University Professors, the American Library Association, the Missouri Association of School Librarians, and the Association of Library and Information Science Education. For her excellence in the field, she has been recognized many times, earning features in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. Looking ahead, Ms. Maltby intends to continue enjoying her retirement.
