A legislative analyst for the Central and Eastern European Law Initiative, he held the position of military judge for the U.S. Army Trial Judiciary, acting city manager for the City of Newburgh, NY, in 1978, corporate counsel for the City of Newburgh, NY, from 1976 to 1978, investigator for the Appellate Division with the Second Judicial Department in the New York Supreme Court in 1976, and a law clerk for the Suffolk County Supreme Court in 1975. Prior to this appointment, he served as an assistant district attorney for Suffolk County, NY, from 1969 to 1974, a partner for O'Rourke & Jordan from 1963 to 1967, a privately practicing attorney from 1959 to 1963, chief deputy for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1958 to 1959, and a law clerk for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit from 1957 to 1959. Mr. Jordan began his career with the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1954 to 1957, as well as a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Jordan pursued an education at Princeton University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1950. He continued his academic efforts with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1953 at New York University. He concluded his studies at New York University in 1970, graduating with a Master of Laws in taxation. Following these accomplishments, Mr. Jordan was admitted to practice by the District of Columbia Bar and the New York State Bar.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Jordan remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained involvement as a grand knight of the Knights of Columbus, also the role of district deputy grand ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He was also active as the vice chair of the Senior Lawyers Division for the Judicial Committee of the American Bar Association from 1994 to 1997. Likewise, Mr. Jordan was noted as an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Jordan has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He was presented with the Decorated Meritorious Service Medal from the U.S. Army Reserve.
