Dr. Gomez began his career as staff respiratory care technician at Hialeah Hospital in Florida from 1970 to 1971. Following this appointment, he was a member of the respiratory care team at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL, from 1971 to 1974. From 1974 to 1977, he served as educational coordinator and shift supervisor at Kendall Regional Medical Center (formerly American Hospital) in Miami, FL. He continued his career with the Pan American Hospital from 1977 to 1989 as director of the pulmonary care department. After this opportunity, he held the position of chief executive officer (CEO) of Gobla Enterprises from 1989 to 1997. Dr. Gomez has been president and chief executive officer of Halcyon Investment Corporation since 1997.
Prior to embarking on his career, Dr. Gomez received an Associate of Science in respiratory care therapist from Miami Dade College (MDC) in 1971. Following this accomplishment, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Florida International University (FIU) in Miami in 1978. In 2010, he earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Summa Cum Laude, from Albizu University (AU) in Miami, Florida. Dr. Gomez concluded his career with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in business administration also Summa Cum Laude from Florida Christian University (FCU) in Orlando, Florida in 2014.
In addition to his career, Dr. Gomez was a CPR instructor for the American Heart Association from 1978 to 1989. He was a clinical instructor for Flagler Career Institute in Miami from 1982 to 1986. Additionally, he was the program director and chief operating officer (COO) of Allied Health Career Institute from 1983 to 1989. He is a member of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) and the Florida Society of Respiratory Care (FSRC). Dr. Gomez is a multi-award-winning author who has written five books, Terapèutica Respiratoria Normas y Aplicaciones (1986), Medical Necessity Guidelines for Ordering Respiratory Care Services: Physician's Pocket Reference (1986), Balding: Hair Loss and Restoration (1990), the multi-award-winning book, Private Money Lending: Learn How to Consistently Generate a Passive Income Stream (2015), and the multi-award-winning book HAIR LOSS: Options for Restoration & Reversal (2017).
Dr. Gomez is the recipient of U.S. Patent No. 4,867,148, a non-filtering facial separation barrier, which is a device used for training purposes in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Additionally, he is a first-degree black belt in American Kempo Karate conferred by the National Kempo Karate Association (NKKA) in 1994. He has trained under IBF Cruiserweight boxing champion and US Kickboxing champion James Warring and 10th Dan grandmaster Martial Arts Hall of Fame inductee the late Johnny Pachivas.
He received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award in 1966. In 2016, he received the Axiom Business Book Award. In 2017, he was presented with the Clemens Medal (in honor of Mark Twain), the Chanticleer International Book Award, the International Book Award, the Independent Press Award, the NYC Big Book Award, the Next-Generation Indie Book Award, the National Indie Excellence Award, the North American Book Award, and the Best Book Award.
