Over the years, he has supervised a number of master's degree and doctoral degree students in regards to their aerospace and mechanical engineering theses.
An expert in his field, Dr. Maalawi holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in aerospace engineering from Cairo University. Throughout his career, he has utilized the vast range of knowledge at his disposal to contribute to 10 research projects regarding aerospace engineering technology, wind turbine components and renewable energy applications. Likewise, Dr. Maalawi has authored more than 60 published scientific papers for such publications as the Journal of Computers & Structures, the International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, the Journal of Mechanics of Materials and Structures, and the International Journal of Structural Stability.
Since 2000, Dr. Maalawi has written articles individually and along with other scholars, including "structural design optimization of wind turbine towers," "material grading for improved aeroelastic stability in composite wings," "functionally-graded bars with enhanced dynamic performance" and "a global objective function for aircraft design optimization." For his professional accomplishments, the National Research Centre has recognized him with two Awards for Engineering Sciences. In the near future, Dr. Maalawi intends to experience the continued growth and success of his role as a consultant.
